Audi Launches The 2017 A3 Cabriolet In India
The new car gets some cosmetic updates and a completely new petrol drivetrain under the hood
Audi launched the all new A3 Cabriolet in India today; the open top variant of their entry-level sedan priced at INR. 47.98 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the car is sold in the Indian market via the CBU route. Audi introduced the A3 Cabriolet 2 years ago in India and it still remains to be one of the most desirable and affordable premium convertibles of the Country.
The front profile of the Cabriolet like you all can expect has adorned the new face that you all have seen in the facelift A3 sedan. The front profile now gets tweaked LED headlamps which also integrate new LED daytime running lamps which is the signature styling of Audi. The slightly tweaked headlamps are an all LED unit now. Apart from the headlamps the front profile also gets a slightly more pronounced hexagonal grille. The front bumper too looks even sportier and aggressive because of the slightly bigger air vents. While the side profile remains unchanged though the only change that the rear profile of the Cabriolet has received comes in the form of slightly tweaked LED taillamp.
Inside things looks equally interesting as well, the A3 Cabriolet gets the same dashboard which now houses a 7.0 inch MMI infotainment system. The infotainment system gets integrated satellite navigation. The Cabriolet also gets equipped with parking sensors both at its front as well as rear. It further also features a premium Bang and olufsen sound system as an option.
The biggest change however is under the hood, the updated sedan gets a completely new 1.4 Litre TFSI unit which replaces the bigger 1.8 Litre TFSI unit found in the earlier car. Downsizing the engine has also has resulted in losing some power. The new turbocharged unit is able to produce 150 Hp of peak power instead of 180 Hp produced by the 1.8 Litre unit. But, the good news is that the torque figures remain unchanged, just like the pre-facelift variant the A3 Cabriolet still produces 250 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to the same seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. The downsized engine however now promises impressive fuel efficiency figures of 19.20kpl. This was possible because of the downsized engine and also because the car is equipped with Cylinder on Demand technology, which turns off few cylinders when not in use.
Now that Audi has introduced the facelift Cabriolet you can also expect them to introduce the facelift sedan sometimes this year.
