Audi A3 Facelift Will Launch In India On 6th April 2017
The sedan gets a completely new petrol engine and few cosmetic tweaks to exterior and interior
Some of the reports on the internet suggest that Audi will be launching their entry level compact sedan on 6th April 2017. The A3 will be the German premium auto manufacturers third launch after the A3 Cabriolet and the A4 diesel variant for the Indian market; they have planned 10 new products for the Indian market for the year 2017.
The 2017 model A3 gets few cosmetic updates both on the exterior as well interior but the most interesting part though is that it gets a new petrol engine under the hood as well.
Visually the cosmetic updated made to the facelift sedan includes a slightly larger hexagonal shaped grille and also new LED headlamps as an option, the standard version, on the other hand, gets Bi-xenon lights. The headlight unit also integrated LED daytime running lamps as well which looks a lot sharper. Besides the new grille and the headlights, the A3 facelift also gets a redesigned front grille as well which gets bigger air vents. The side profile, however, remains identical to the pre-facelift variant however the updated sedan does get new 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear profile just like the front gets a revised bumper and tweaked and revised taillamps.
Just like the exterior the interior too has been changed as well. The dashboard remains unchanged and gets the same multimedia screen that pops out from inside. Now the Audi A3 also features a wireless mobile charger. Unlike the other International models, the A3 facelift also misses out the Virtual cockpit but instead gets the analogue instrument console.
Under the hood, the diesel variant of the sedan continues with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which produces about 139 bhp of peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The diesel unit is paired to a 6-speed DSG gearbox. The petrol unit, on the other hand, gets completely new smaller 1.4-litre TFSI petrol motor which replaces the 1.8-litre TFSI unit. This engine is capable of producing about 148 bhp of peak power and 250 Nm of torque. The unit is paired to a 7-speed S-Tronic automatic gearbox.
The Audi A3 will compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz CLA upon its launch. Expect the facelift sedan to be priced slightly higher than the current variant.
