5 facts you did not know about the Tata Tiago Aktiv
Tata Tiago Aktiv is a heavily accessorized crossover based on the Tiago
Tata Tiago has garnered pretty much attention since it has been launched earlier this year. Alongside the Tata Tiago there was another car painted in Blue which was heavily accessorized and based on the Tiago hatchback. Later at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show the car was fully displayed as a showpiece and it was then christened as the Tata Tiago Aktiv, and until now the car has been sold through Tata Motors’ personalization studio with options of accessories for the buyers. Now the Indian automaker plans to introduce the Tata Tiago Aktiv as a fully production model, which will come as a complete unit in the market.
Expected to launch later this year the Tata Tiago Aktiv has already seen much more interest and demand from the prospective buyers compare to the regular variant of the Tata Tiago hatchback, which has inspired the Tata Motors to manufacture a complete production version of the Tata Tiago Aktiv crossover.
Now based on the interesting Tata Tiago hatchback the Tiago Aktiv also comes pretty interesting. Here we take a close look at the Tiago Aktiv crossover, and check what are the interesting facts about the upcoming crossover.
SPORTIER DESIGN AND MORE STYLILSH
The Tata Tiago Aktiv crossover has been designed based on the Tiago hatchback which has been launched few months back. The Tiago Aktiv looks a bit more muscular with the accessories used in the car. At the front profile the car sports thick black plastic cladding at the front bumper, faux silver splitter, thick plastic housing surrounding the fog lamps, while the front grille with smiling pattern comes in matte finish; which gets a piano black finish in the Tata Tiago regular hatchback. The additional accessories at the side profile of the Tata Tiago Aktiv are the sharp sporty looking alloy wheels with blade like design, metallic inserts at the running boards, sporty roof rails, and glossy black wing mirror caps. The rear profile will come with roof spoiler, faux diffuser, and faux silver skid plate. Altogether the Tiago Aktiv looks sportier, muscular. Apart from these the Tiago Aktiv will also boast body graphics, which are not visible in the Tiago hatchback, while the roof might also come finished in glossy black.
THE BASIC DESIGN REMAINS SAME
Apart from the accessorized look the Tata Tiago Aktiv’s look basically remains same with the regular Tiago hatchback, which include sharp headlamps with projector units, smiling grille with honeycomb pattern, slated aggressive looking air intake with honeycomb grille, blackened glass area, upward running waistline. Dimensionally the Tata Tiago Aktiv is expected to come similar to the Tiago regular hatchback with the same length, width, height and wheelbase, but expecting a bit higher ground clearance wouldn’t much I guess.
WHAT’S INSIDE THE CABIN
The Tiago Hatchback showed us that the car sports several features which are fresh to the segment, and with all these features the car looks pretty much upmarket and stylish. The Tiago Aktiv would sport the same features with bit of more sportiness incorporated by all black sporty colour theme and sporty looking upholstery elements. Other than that the car would get multifunction steering wheel, same dual analog and a TFT displauy consisting instrument cluster, piano black finished hexagonal centre console with MID infotainment system. Expect some chrome embellishment inside the cabin as well.
IT’S A CROSOVER, NOT A PERFORMER
The Sporty compact hatchback based crossover has been updated with the accessories, which make the car look like capable for off-roading, but the fact is this car is not built for the tough jobs, but soft roading instead. The powertrain of the car remains same like the regular hatchback. Therefore the petrol variant of the Tiago Aktiv is powered by a 1.2 litre Revotron engine with 5 speed manual gearbox doing the transmission duty, and this engine churns out 85 PS of peak power at 6000 rpm and 114 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. On the other hand the diesel engine is the 1.05 Revotorq unit doing duty under the hood of the Tiago regular hatchback, which is paired with a 5 speed manual transmission and pumping out 70 PS of peak power at 4000 rpm and 139 Nm of peak torque between 1800 rpm to 3000 rpm. Both the petrol and diesel engines are pretty much fuel efficient with fuel economy figures standing at 23.84 kmpl and 27.28 kmpl respectively.
PRICIER THAN TIAGO REGULAR MODEL
Tata Tiago compact hatchback comes with a price tags ranging between INR. 3.20 lakh to INR. 5.54 lakh. Presently the Tiago Aktiv from the Tata Motors personalization studio comes with around INR. 40000 extra price for the accessories, but once the production version of the Tiago Aktiv gets launched, expect the car to be priced even more higher. Tata Motors will manufacture the car on a made to order basis and in small numbers as well.
