2018 Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross; What Do We Get
New S-Cross looks is expected to be officially unveiled at 2016 Paris Motor Show
Maruti-Suzuki is the most popular automotive brand in India. The Indo Japanese auto manufacture entered the premium crossover segment in the country last year by launching the S-Cross. The car is based on the SX4 sedan, which has been a flop so far. The automaker claims, the S-Cross comes offering comfort like a sedan and toughness like a SUV. Competing against the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster, this car has been amidst tough challenge since the launch.
Maruti-Suzuki is yet to see success with this vehicle in India. But the automaker still hopes big for the model. Meanwhile in Hungary a facelift model of the S-Cross was displayed to a selected audience. As we got a glimpse of the facelift model, it looks much better than the outgoing S-Cross. It looks aggressive with the new front fascia. The interior is also expected to come more premium looking. The new S-Cross is expected to be unveiled officially at the 2016 Paris Motor Show later this year in October.
Here we will share the brief informations available about the 2018 Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross.
COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AND AGGRESSIVE FRONT FASCIA
The facelift edition of the Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross comes with a fully redesigned appearance. It dons an aggressive look with vertically slated chrome garnished large grille. The headlamp clusters come redesigned with trimmed appearance. They sport LED daytime running lights. The lower front fascia gets wider air intake and fog lamps sitting at the black accented area complemented by chrome trims. So far, the entire front fascia looks sharper and very much aggressive, which has added the appeal to the car compare to the outgoing model.
THE SILHOUETTE REMAINS IDENTICAL
The front fascia of the car has been changed drastically. But the silhouette remains identical. Only visible changes at the side profile are the distinctive roof rails and the new design alloy wheels. Apart from that the new S-Cross sports similar sloping roof line, blackened glass area, side character lines, body cladding, and silver side sills. The rear profile also looks identical with the wrap around large taillamps, roof spoiler with high mounted stop lamp, skid plate.
POSSIBLY NO DIMENSIONAL CHANGE
It is still unknown, whether the new Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross will come with new dimensions or not. The outgoing model features 4300 mm of length, 1756 mm of width, 1590 mm of height and 2600 mm of wheelbase. Moreover the S-Cross also comes with 180 mm of ground clearance, 353 litres of boot space and 48 litres of fuel tank capacity. The 5 person seater car comes with a turning radius of 5.2 meter.
MILDLY REFRESHED INTERIOR
The interior of the upcoming Maruti-Suzuki will feature a mildly refreshed interior. The multifunction steering wheel and the center console remain same. The instrument cluster sports new MID at the middle, while the dashboard gets new trim options. The interior theme has been changed as well. The new contrast stitching at the seat upholstery comes as a sporty touch to the interior. Like the outgoing model, expect the new S-Cross to come spacious and comfortable.
POWERTRAIN REMAINS SAME?
There is no conformation yet, but the powertrain of the new S-Cross might come similar like the outgoing model. The India spec Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross is powered by two diesel engine options. The smaller engine is a 1.3 litre DDiS 200 engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission churning out 90 hp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand the larger engine is a 1.6 litre DDiS 320 engine which is paired with a 6 speed manual gearbox and kicks out 120 hp of peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque. Expect the same engines to come available under the hood of the India spec new S-Cross. We might expect a power update for both the engines though.
WHAT WOULD BE THE PRICING
Pricing is going to play a very crucial role for the upcoming new Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross. The outgoing model was launched at a price range between INR. 8.34 lakh to INR. 13.74 lakh. Expect the new model to come priced aggressively against the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta, both of which are the competitors against the S-Cross. In that case the new model would come priced between INR. 10 lakh to INR. 15 lakh, which is certainly higher than the outgoing model.
