Bajaj is set to launch India’s cheapest passenger four-wheeler in two moths time. Plus we have information now that Bajaj Qute price will start at about Rs 1.65 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Do note that Bajaj has been selling this internationally for months now. An electric version will follow next year.
The Qute has hit quite a few roadblocks in India from our manufacturers. This indigenously developed quadricycle has finally got approval from the Indian government under a set of rules. At Rs 1.65 lakh, Bajaj Qute price will make it cheaper than all the entry level hatchbacks in India and therefore will garner a lot of interest. This will specially come from first time car buyers. As of now we are told the Qute will only be sold as a commercial vehicle. This means, it will end up being a safer alternative to the a conventional auto rickshaw. The Indian government has already created a new segment for the Qute as quadricycle. This came after Bajaj’s aggressive marketing for the FreeTheQute campaign.
The Qute comes with 216cc single cylinder petrol engine with a 5 speed manual gearbox. It produces 13.5 bhp / 20.6Nm and can deliver 30-35 kmpl. As a result, the 8 litre fuel tank will give it a real world range of 250 km or so. Top speed will be capped to about 65-70 km/h in our opinion. At a later stage, Bajaj will also offer CNG and electric versions. It gets a 5-speed manual transmission and a fuel capacity of around eight litres. The engine can be upgraded to the BS-VI emission norm compliance when needed. Currently, it is BS-IV compliant.
Bajaj Qute price summary
For the reason that Bajaj is trying to bring safer and affordable mobility for the masses, they get a thumbs up from us. If they can also deliver great finance schemes, then an increasing number of people will want to invest into the Qute and use it to ferry the masses.
