The new A8 gets more aggressive and sharper compare to the outgoing model. The ‘single frame’ front grille of the car has been updated and it looks sharper and wider in the new A8. As it seems, Audi A8 takes the inspiration from the new generation Q7 and also from the Audi Prologue concept, as both these cars come bearing the similar sharp hexagonal front grilles. The headlamps look sharper as the LED daytime running light integrated to the headlamp clusters don’t come as floating ones. In the new A8 they come straight. The headlamp clusters also look sharper and boxy and feature Matrix LED units. The lower front fascia also looks beefy with the fog lamp areas full of black accents. The hood gets two sleek creases running toward the front grille.
At the side profile the car features sharp character lines running through the doors, which began just at the end of the headlamps and end at the taillamps. Apart from that the lower side body also gets sharp character lines. The glass area gets sleek chrome bordering around it, with the B pillar blackened. The roofline gets nice curving before blending perfectly at the rear. The wing mirrors come featuring sleek LED side turning lights. The wheel arches at the side profile look massive with large bold alloy wheels.
The rear profile of the car in the spyshots is heavily camouflaged. It seems that the rear profile remains identical. Therefore, it can be assumed that the only big change in the new Audi A8 is the front grille. It is still unknown whether the new A8 has received any dimensional change or not. But we know that the car comes sitting on the new MLB Evo platform, which also houses the new Audi Q7 luxury SUV.
Two of the competitors against the Audi A8 are the Mercedes Benz S Class and the BMW 7 Series. The new Mercedes Maybach S Class looks suave and very much elegant, while the new BMW 7 Series also reflects style. Among these three luxury sedans the Audi A8 seems most aggressive looking in its new guise, while the Mercedes Maybach S Class looks the most elegant.
2018 Audi A8’s interior might come inspired by 2016 Audi Q7
The interior of the new Audi A8 is a mystery. But expect the car to feature minimum change. Expect the car to come featuring more updated instrument cluster, and it might take inspiration from the new Audi Q7 interior. The touchscreen infotainment system would come more updated.
