Volvo has teased the new 2018 model of the XC60 Crossover which will make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Although Volvo has not released any major details yet they did announce some exclusive safety features that the soon to be launched Crossover will get.
The new XC60 will be based on Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform; this is the same platform which also underpins the bigger XC90 SUV. Volvo hasn’t revealed any exterior details yet but has left some teaser image of the upcoming all new Crossovers.
Apart from the new styling, the XC60 will also feature three new advanced driver assistance features aimed at keeping the driver out of trouble.

Volvo has released a teaser image of the upcoming Crossover which reveals some interesting details of the Crossover. The XC60 will now get Thor’s hammer headlamps which can also be found on their flagship SUV offering the XC90. The teaser image does reveal few more details about the SUV’s side profile as well leaving a hint that the Crossover is slightly bigger in dimension than its predecessor. The Crossover is based on a new platform which also means that it might perhaps get a longer wheelbase than the current SUV which will result in a more interior room. Another teaser image of the SUV also reveals the taillamps of the XC60 which looks identical to some other suvs of their lineup.
The XC60’s interior details are not out yet but expect it to get equipped with all the modern amenities that you find in some of the other new generation cars from Volvo including the new S90, S60 and XC90. Expect the upcoming SUV to also get a big tablet-like touchscreen like infotainment system in the middle of the dashboard while there will be minimal switches on the dash.
The upcoming XC60 will be available with a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel drivetrains. You can also expect a plug-in hybrid system as well to be introduced as well later. The SUV will be offered with automatic transmission and an all wheel drive system as well.
Like we already know that Volvo takes the safety of their occupants seriously and the upcoming XC60 will get plenty of Active and passive safety features to save its occupants from any danger.
The 2018 model year XC60 will get automatic steering assistance or support which will help avoid potential collisions. This life-saving feature will make the XC60 one of the safest car on the road. The City safety system has also updated in the XC60 which engages the automatic brakes, but the car will also provide steering assistance to the driver and avoid contact with the oncoming obstacle, vehicle or pedestrians. The steering support system is activated and efficient an speeds of 50-100 km/h mark. Volvo has also included the Oncoming Lane Mitigation system.
All these systems make the XC60 equivalent to the bigger XC90 regarding safety features.
