Some of the rumours state that Maruti will be launching the new facelift Celerio in India soon. This car, when launched back in 2014, was popular for its AMT transmission; as a matter of fact, the Celerio was the first Maruti hatchback which featured AMT transmission. The upcoming hatchback will receive its first mid-life update soon, and the rumours also suggest that that the car will be made more attractive and will feature some new technologies to compete with some of its rivals who has earned lots of popularity within the few years of their launch.
The details of the changes to the facelifted hatchback are scarce at this moment, but it will definitely get a restyled exterior as well as interior to keep things fresh until and unless Maruti launches the new generation car. As far as the drivetrain is concerned Maruti has no intentions of making any changes under the hood of this hatchback. Maruti introduced a diesel variant of the Celerio back in 2015 but was later discontinued due to poor sales figures.

Like we already said earlier the information about the facelifted hatchback is limited at this moment, however, expect the hatchback to receive some styling updates to keep things fresh on the exterior end. The Celerio hatchback will most probably get a restyled headlamps cluster which wills also integrated new L-shaped daytime running lamps inside. Apart from the new headlamps, the hatchback will also feature new grille as well which will most probably also gets some chrome elements to it. The hatchback will perhaps also receive some minor updates to the front bumper to make things slightly sportier. Towards the side profile, the Celerio facelift might get a Black plastic claddings to add some bold character as well while it will perhaps also get a blacked out B and C pillar. Apart from all these changes, the side profile will also receive a new set of alloy wheels as well. Just like the front and side profile the rear profile of the hatchback might also feature a new set of redesigned taillamps and perhaps a redesigned rear bumper to match with the overall front profile of the car.

Just like the exterior expect the interior also to feature subtle updates as well. The dashboard might house a new touchscreen infotainment system which will not be the same unit as you have seen on some other Maruti cars like the Ignis, Baleno and the newly launched Dzire. This will be slightly smaller but will feature Bluetooth connectivity feature. You can also expect some new set of upholstery inside the cabin as well. Their won’t be any change in the overall dimension though and this the interior room will be identical to the pre-facelift variant.
The current reports state that Maruti won’t make any changes under the hood of the Celerio hatchback. It will continue with the same 1.0 Litre, three cylinder petrol engine which will produce about 64 Bhp of peak power and 90 NM of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. However, there will also be an AMT transmission offered as an option too. Besides the petrol engine, the Celerio also gets a CNG option as well which produce about 57 Bhp of peak power, and it too is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as well.
There is a possibility that Maruti might add a diesel engine as well shortly.

The car has not been launched yet in India but expects the facelifted hatchback to be priced slightly above the pre-facelift variant. Maruti will price the car aggressively to compete with its rivals.
The Celerio will compete directly with the likes the Tata Tiago hatchback and the newly introduced Hyundai Grand i10 facelift.
Although the Tiago gets both diesel and petrol, engine options under the hood but because the Celerio does not have a diesel engine option anymore it will compete directly with the Tiago petrol. The petrol variant of the Tiago gets a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces 84bhp of power; the engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Hyundai has given their modern Grand i10 facelift this year. Although there are no changes made to the petrol drivetrain the diesel engine evidently received an update. 1.2-litre Kappa engine powers the petrol variant of the Grand i10 that even powered the old i10, this engine is capable of producing about 81 Bhp of peak power and is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Celerio won’t receive a lot of change though, but the changes that will be made are subtle. However, the new styling will help it to compete once again in this tough competition. While the availability of an AMT gearbox even makes things more interesting. Maruti will even make both driver and front passenger side airbag and ABS as standard with every variant on offer.
