It looks like Honda has been readying the facelift Jazz hatchback in Japan. This is the mid-life facelift that the new generation hatchback will receive. Some Reports states that the facelift Jazz hatchback which is popularly known as Honda Fit will be launching within the next few months in the markets of Japan. Now the popularity of the premium hatchback from Honda has risen to a great extent in the recent year’s credit goes to the Indian consumers who are now getting their hands on the premium hatchbacks as well.

The upcoming Jazz hatchbacks according to the leaked reports on the internet are getting plenty of exterior as well interior changes. These changes will make the hatchback a far better competitive rival to the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno.

We already did mention earlier that the Honda is working on a facelift Jazz and although the hatchback might have received subtle changes to the exterior and interior it will help keep things fresh for the Jazz until and unless the new generation car is introduced in the market. Towards the front, the Jazz which is popularly known as Fit for the markets of Japan gets a redesigned front face. The Jazz gets a slightly bigger and bolder-looking grille up front which looks similar to the ones found in the new City sedan. The front grille has received Chrome treatment to it. Apart from the new grille the front profile also gets redesigned bumpers which get a slightly bigger and different appearing lip. There are no significant changes towards the side profile though while towards the rear profile the bumper also has been redesigned.

To sum up, the styling expects the Honda Jazz hatchback to get subtle updates which will make it adopt the new Honda’s front face while the LED headlamps and integrated daytime running lamps along with LED taillamps will add some modern touches to the car as well.

The facelift Jazz hatchback just like its exterior will receive few cosmetic changes the first, and the foremost thing that the facelift Jazz hatchback will get is the new Digipad touchscreen unit which is also seen in the new City hatchback and also the newly introduced Jazz based Crossover WR-V. This infotainment system gets 7-inch touchscreen and comes integrated with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, it further also gets Satellite Navigation and also with 1.5 GB of internal storage.


Honda will continue with the same 1.2 Litre i-VTEC petrol unit which is capable of producing about 90 Ps of peak power and 110 Nm of torque. The 1.5 Litre i-DTEC diesel motor, on the other hand, generates about 100 Ps of peak power and 200 Nm of torque. While the petrol unit is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, there is also an optional CVT available as an option. The diesel variant, on the other hand, gets a single 6-speed manual transmission.
Honda also has included a Hybrid drivetrain under the hood of this facelift Jazz which includes a new 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission which has an inbuilt electric motor. Unfortunately, the hybrid variant is available for sale only in the markets of Japan and Malaysia currently.

The new Honda Jazz model will continue with the same engines as the pre-facelift model. Thus mileage figures are likely to remain the same. While the MT Petrol promises to return around 18.7 KMPL, the CVT variant can deliver an impressive 19 KMPL. The Diesel variant on the other hand promises to returns 27.3 KMPL.


Expect the new facelift Honda Jazz Prices to start from upwards INR. 6 Lakhs while the fully loaded diesel variant will set you back almost INR. 10 Lakhs. However, Honda won’t repeat their previous mistakes and will price their facelift hatchback quite reasonably here in the Indian market.

You can expect the new facelift Jazz hatchback to launch around the festive season which means the September end or early October 2017.


Like we already mentioned earlier the Jazz hatchback will compete directly with the Maruti Balenoarticle hatchback and the Hyundai Elite i20.

The Maruti Baleno is the latest premium offering from India’s largest Auto manufacturer, and it gets a new rigid and lightweight platform while under the hood it uses the same 1.2 Litre K series petrol motor and 1.3 Litre Diesel unit borrowed from Fiat.

Hyundai Elite i20


The Hyundai Elite i20 hatchback, on the other hand, gets the 1.2 Litre, 4 cylinder Kappa petrol engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the diesel variant, on the contrary, gets the 1.4 Litre, 4 cylinder motor which is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.


The changes that you will notice in the facelift Jazz hatchback are subtle, but the changes inevitably make the hatchback much better equipped so that it could face its new rivals easily. With all the expected changes that we mentioned above the hatchback surely looks well equipped and will prove to be much more value for money product.
