The doors to the 67th IAA International Motor Show will be open to the public from September 16th onward. As usual, you can expect some exciting new releases and alongside futuristic concept cars at the show.
What we are interested in is the facts how many cars from the Frankfurt Motor show are relevant for the Indian market. Thus we have picked 10 of the most exciting cars which will be displayed at the Auto show along with their details.

2018 AUDI A8
The Luxurious flagship A8 limousine will make its public debut at the IAA this year. The A8 was unveiled recently to the media and is expected to go on sale from October while India launch is slated for late 2018.
The new Audi A8 underpins Audi’s latest MLB platform. The new A8 gets loads of modern automated driving tech which includes an optional Traffic Jam Pilot system. This system relies on the cars cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors to control the cars accelerating, braking and steering functions. As a result, the cars complete driving control can be monitored automatically upto speeds of 50 kph on the motorways.
As far as the drivetrains are concerned the A8 offered with the choice of two turbocharged V6 engines as of now. Then 3.0 Litre TFSI petrol unit will be capable of generating around 340hp of peak power while the 3.0-litre diesel unit will be capable of producing around 264bhp. Both the engines will be paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro four-wheel drive system, while there is also a standard 48V which also acts as a mild hybrid system. Few other drivetrains too will join the lineup shortly.
2018 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT
Bentley recently unveiled their most advanced car yet in the form of the Continental GT. The Grand Tourer will make its public debut at the 2017 Auto show. The car promises to be more sporty and agile, but on the other hand, Bentley also promises that the GT never compromised on the luxury quotient of the occupants inside. The new GT has taken its styling inspiration from the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept car showcased at the Geneva motor show in 2015. However, the new car has a longer wheelbase and is also wider than the previous car.
Bentley has also made some serious changes under the hood. The 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 petrol engine has been worked on, and it now delivers 617hp at 6000rpm which is almost 43hp more than the outgoing unit, and a massive torque amount of 900Nm from 1350rpm to 4500rpm. The engine is paired to the same dual-clutch eight-speed transmission. Talk about performance and the GT does not disappoint you at all. The car is capable of achieving 0-100kph in 3.7sec, which is 0.8sec quicker than its predecessor and has a top whack of 333kph.
The biggest change inside the cabin includes a rotating display which looks like central dashboard but as soon s the car is turned on the Veneer rotates and reveals the Bentleys largest touchscreen ever fitted in a car. The Continental GT features a large 12.3-inch touchscreen display. The drivers also get a full digital display for the first time. Besides all the modern tech the rest of the cabin gets surrounded by high-quality leather and veneers alongside hand-finished chrome details.
2018 BMW M5
The BMW M5 is one car that will gather a lot of attention from Petrolheads at the Motor show. The new generation M5 until now was teased only through video games and thus it will be showcased for the first time at the Auto show.
The reports state that M variant of the 5 Series will be powered by a reworked variant of the 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 motor which is expected to generate about 600 Hp. The powerful engine will help the car accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in about 3.4 seconds while expect the top speed to reach 305+ km. The M5 for the first will break stereotype this will be the first M5 model which will get an all wheel drive instead of rear wheel drive. To differentiate it from the regular 5 series the M5 will adorn M styled cosmetic package to increase the overall styling of the sedan.
2018 DACIA DUSTER
Although Dacia is not present in the Indian market, however, their popular product Duster is sold in the Indian market by Renault. Dacia recently unveiled the new generation Duster which will be sold and marketed by Renault in India. There is no doubt that the Duster is one hugely popular SUV in India. The new generation Duster will make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor show.
If we talk about changes, then you will be disappointed. Based on the same MO platform the manufacturers decided to keep the overall silhouette of its predecessor intact. Although there are many noticeable cosmetic changes made to the SUV to be quite honest, it looks more like a facelift than a new generation.
The Duster will most probably continue with the same drivetrain which powers the current generation car.
2018 HONDA JAZZ FACELIFT
Honda has introduced the Fit Facelift in some International market; the same hatchback is sold under the Jazz nameplate in India. The Fit facelift has received some cosmetic updates in the form of a new front face. TO be more precise the Fit/Jazz hatchback gets a new LED headlamps and front grille which was first seen on the Civic and later on the new City sedan. The other noticeable changes to the front profile include new LED fog lamps. The other cosmetic changes to the hatchback include new alloy wheels and LED inserts on the taillamps.
Under the hood, the Japan Spec hatchback continues with the same drivetrain. There is still some time for it to launch in the Indian market but expect the facelifted hatchback to get the same kind of changes noticeable in this Japan spec facelift car.
2017 JAGUAR E-PACE
Jaguar has added one more SUV to their lineup recently this is one car which we all are eagerly waiting for to launch in India. Called the E-Pace this Crossover seems to have taken its styling inspiration from the bigger F-Pace SUV. The new Crossover will likely rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW’s X1 and the Audi’s Q3. The car will be manufactured in Austria instead of UK. This smaller Crossover is expected to keep Jaguars register ringing when it finally launches.
The E-Pace will get turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engines. The most powerful engine is expected to produce around 300 Hp of peak power. These engines will be paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission which will send power to all the four wheels. The front wheel drive variant will only be offered with the entry level 2.0 Liter 150 Hp variant. The base petrol also happens to be the only variant which will get a six-speed manual gearbox. The rest of the options on offer will get all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
2018 VOLKSWAGEN T ROC
The SUV first debuted as a concept back at the 2014 Geneva Motor show recently VW has taken the covers of their smallest SUV which is based on the new modular MQB platform which also underpins the Polo and some other Audi SUV’s. The T-Roc will make its public debut at the Auto show. The new T-ROC is positioned below the Tiguan SUV.
For the first time, the T-Roc features a different looking grille, sleeker headlamps and LED daytime running lamps the side turn indicators positioned towards the lower portion of the front bumper. On the inside, the SUV takes its cabin inspiration from Golf hatchback. The seats in particular though are positioned higher than other VW cars which give it an SUV like appearance.
Under the hood, the Volkswagen T-Roc SUV will be sold with an option of 5 Turbocharged engines out of which three will be petrol while the other two will be diesel units. The engines will be paired either to a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual shift automatic gearbox. There will also be an option of a front wheel or four wheel drive as well.
2018 PORSCHE CAYENNE
Porsche is all set to debut the third generation of their popular Cayenne SUV in India in Frankfurt. Although the car has received minor cosmetic changes to the exterior Porsche claims that they have made through mechanical changes to the SUV. Just like the exterior, the interior of the SUV has also received its updates as well which includes a newly styled dashboard and a new touchscreen infotainment system.
Expect Porsche to showcase both the Cayenne and Cayenne S variants at the show. Both these SUV’s gets a newly developed V6 motor which has been paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive. The 3.0 LItre V6 engine which also powers the Panamera SUV is capable of producing about 330hp of peak power and 450Nm of torque which is of course more than the previous Cayenne. This new engine with more power output helps the SUV to sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in 6.2sec (5.9sec with an optional Sport Chrono Package). This SUV has a top whack of 244 Km/h mark.
The Cayenne S, on the other hand, gets a slightly more powerful 2.9 Litre unit turbo V6 unit which is capable of producing about 428hp of peak power and 549Nm of torque. This engine makes the SUV slightly faster than the standard SUV. It can reach a top speed of 0-100kph in 5.2sec (4.9sec with the Sport Chrono Package) and has a top speed of 265kph.
There are also reports that some other drivetrains will soon be also launching the Cayenne lineup which will include plug-in hybrids. You can expect this new SUV to hit the Indian shores sometimes next year and will compete directly against its rivals like the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Jaguar F-Pace and also the Mercedes-Benz GLE.
