Datsun introduced the Redi-GO last year but unfortunately was not able to attract a lot of attention either because of its compact dimensions or lack of features or perhaps an underpowered engine. Although Datsun might not have addressed the first two issues, they took care of the third and probably the most important issue.Datsun Has decided to add a bigger engine under the hood of their entry level offering.
The redi-Go was the first model that was introduced after the Renault-Nissan alliance’s CMF-A flexible platform which is the same platform that also underpins the Renault KWID as well. The hatchback even uses the same 799cc, a three-cylinder engine which also powers the Renault KWID. The slightly more powerful Redi-Go 1.0 Litre unit is also the same engine which has been borrowed from the Renault KWID, while Renault calls it SCe (Smart Control Efficiency), Datsun has decided to go with i-SAT name.

We already have mentioned earlier that do not expect a lot of change on is exterior of this powerful variant of the Redi-GO. The redi-Go is a budget hatchback so unfortunately all of you will have to cope up with the fact that it has a cramped up interior space and skinny tyres. However, we do feel that the front end of the hatchback looks good with the large aggressive grille and sharp looking headlamps.
The only cosmetic change that the hatchback has received comes in the form of a new 1.0 Litre badge at the rear profile of the hatchback.

The interior of the redi-Go looks quite bland and dull and minimalistic but keeping the price point in mind it still offers a lot. However, the new 1.0 litre gets some features like Bluetooth connectivity with the audio system and added safety features like a reverse parking sensor. What we can also live with is the fact that the 1.0 Litre gets an all black interior. It also gets silver accents towards the AC vents and the horn pad on the steering wheel.
Coming to the most important part the car’s drivetrain, like we already mentioned above the Datsun Redi-GO will get the same 1.0 Litre, three cylinder engine which powers the Renault KWID 1.0 Litre hatchback.
Datsun has named the petrol unit 1.0L I-SAT engine which produces about 67 bhp of peak power at 5,500 rpm and 91 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. The engine paired to a five-speed gearbox as standard, and unfortunately, it does not get an option of an AMT transmission like that of the KWID hatchback. The engine promises to return around 22.5 km/l, which is slightly less than that of the Kwid’s (23.01 km/l).

The prices of the Datsun Redi-GO 1.0L in India starts at INR 3,57,333 (ex-showroom India). While the Datsun Redi-GO 0.8L is offered in D, A, T, T(O) and S grades, the Datsun Redi-GO 1.0L is available only in the high-end T(O) and S grades.
The Datsun Redi-Go will compete directly with the Renault KWID 1.0 Litre and the Maruti Alto K10 in the Indian market. Now both these hatchbacks are powered by a 1.0 Litre engine and gets an AMT Transmission as an option besides the standard manual gearbox. Compared to the redi-Go 1.0 Litre the prices of the KWID starts from INR. 3,49,400-4,24,900 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Datsun Redi-Go is a lightweight hatchback, and the slightly powerful 1.0 Litre engine with more power output definitely will help enhance the driveability factor of the hatchback.
Although the hatchback hasn’t received any major updates to its exterior or interior but there is no hiding the fact that this is still one of the most affordable 1.0 Litre powered hatchback that you can get your hands on.
