2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder

2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder

The Coupe even looks wilder without its roof

After almost a year Lamborghini launched the Huracan LP610-4 they introduced the Spyder variant as well at the 2015 Geneva Motor show. The Huracan was brought to replace the iconic Gallardo and thus its successor had a humongous task to live up to its predecessors name and thanks to the brilliant engineering package, it was. The car was so good that it was even faster than its bigger and more powerful brother, the mighty Aventador.

When Lamborghini launched the Gallardo back in 2003, a few people said that it is not how a Lamborghini should be. It was not mad enough. But all this changed when the convertible came out in 2006 and this kept many people happy. The spyder changed the character of the supercar completely and it was just mad. Just imagine you drive the same machine with that roaring engine just behind your seat and with the roof off.

Just like what have seen with the Gallardo Lamborghini launched the coupe first then came the Spyder variant. With the Huracan Lamborghini repeated the history again, they launched the Coupe variant first and then decided to launch the soft top Spyder variant of the same coupe later. Just like we all would have expected the Spyder variant looked dead gorgeous without its roof but at the back it still carried the same naturally aspirated 5.2 Liter V10 unit which is one beast of an engine.

Update 05.05.2016:- Lamborghini launched the Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder in India today. T^he prices and details has been provided below

Maserati CEO has confirmed that the Levante SUV will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show next year. The SUV was due to hit showrooms this year but it was delayed after production shifted from the US to Italy.

2016 Toyota Prius

2016 Toyota Prius

Remember the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 and the McLaren P1? Those are all the latest breed of hybrid hypercars that combine the benefits of internal combustion engine and electric power to deliver maximum performance and consume very little fuel at the same time.

But this new technology was being implemented before these cars came out. The Toyota Prius is well know for its power train.

Now, as we see the world move towards hybrid engines, the Prius is the car that started it all. It is the world’s first hybrid car.

The first generation of the car was launched in 1997 as a compact sedan. It was sold only in Japan. In 2000, the sales of the Prius went global. The second generation, which was launched in 2003, was introduced as a hatchback and the third generation came out in 2009.

The Prius is sold in 90 different countries with Japan and the United States being its largest markets. Worldwide sales crossed the 3 million milestone in June 2013.

With every new generation, Toyota tries to improve the fuel efficiency by around 10 percent and this too, it has succeeded. This is a very tough task to achieve.

But one of the main drawbacks of the Prius was that it was a very boring car to drive. With the fourth generation however, Toyota claims it has created the most fun to drive Prius ever. The car was launched in Las Vegas a few days back.

Chinese Man Smashes His S 63 AMG With A Golf Club: Video

Remember the dude who employed a few people to smash his Lamborghini Gallardo using hammers in China? Or the guy who smashed his BMW M6 in Frankfurt? Such incidents are back to haunt the car world. A chinese man has smashed his Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG with a golf club. And just like the previous incidents, reliability issues and poor customer service led to the incident.

The 33 year old was protesting after his car stalled three times. He took it to the dealer who promised to exchange the car if the incident repeated. Unfortunately, it did. When he went back to the showroom, they told him to wait for the higher ups who had gone on a business trip.

Frustrated, he took a golf club from the boot and smashed the AMG. He smashed the body panels, windows, headlights and tail lights.
Such incidents are heart wrenching to see.

Based on the S-Class sedan, the S 63 is a high performance version tuned by Mercedes’s in-house tunners, AMG. The sedan comes equipped with all the latest luxuries and gadgets found in the normal sedan. A few design features set it apart from the regular car. It is powered by an AMG 5.5-Liter V8 Biturbo petrol engine producing 585 hp and 900 Nm of torque. It is mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission and power is sent to rear wheels. AMG’s all-wheel drive system 4MATIC system is available as an option. The car accelerates from a stand still to a 100 kmph in 4.0 (all-wheel drive) seconds and goes on to an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. It can be increased to 300 kmph with the optional AMG Driver’s Package. The car return 9.9 kms to a litre of fuel.

The Huracan comes loaded with technologies that make it extremely quick on a race track. It is way faster than its bigger brother, the mighty Aventador.

The coupe is powered by a 5.2 litre V10 engine which produces 602 HP and 560 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed LDF dual clutch transmission and power is sent to all four wheels. Koenigsegg Planning Track-Only Hypercar

Koenigsegg Planning Track-Only Hypercar

The Koenigsegg One:1 is one of the fastest cars in the world. And by saying that, I am not talking about the top speed. It is the fastest even on a race track. The car currently holds the record fastest lap at the famous Suzuka Circuit in Japan and at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The One:1 is also expected to soon set a record on the legendary race track called the green hell, the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

Introduced at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the One:1 is dubbed as the world’s first mega car. The name comes from the power to weight ratio, which is 1, that is, it has a 1 hp to 1 kg ratio. The hypercar is powered by a twin turbochraged V8 producing 1341 hp and 1371 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The car accelerates from a stand still to a 100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds. It accelerates from a stand still to 400 kmph in around 20 seconds and goes from 400 kmph to a dead stop in just 10 seconds. Top speed has been rated at 440 kmph. Those figures are just mind blowing!.

But this does not seem to be enough for the Swedish company. They are now planning to build a track only hypercar that will be way faster than the One:1. The company’s boss, Christian von Koenigsegg, said that he was interested in creating such a model. It would not be based on any of their existing cars. It would be a bespoke model and will be built from the ground up. It would compete against the Aston Martin Vulcan, McLaren P1 GTR and the Ferrari FXX K.

2017 Porsche 911 Carrera

2017 Porsche 911 Carrera

Well, it is finally here. The much talked about new, next generation Porsche 911. Why is this car so important you ask?

The 911 is the best selling sports car in the world. Launched in 1963, it is the best selling sports car in the world. It is known for its rear engine and for its precise and superb handling characteristics. For generations, the 911 has stuck with its rear engine layout and its engine has always been a six cylinder boxer unit. Over decades of development by Porsche engineers have made this car perfect.

While the base models were naturally aspirated, the more powerful versions were turbocharged.

If the previous generation 911, called the 991, is hated by purist, the new one might get an even worse response from them. Why?

The previous car, for the first time, replaced the hydraulic power steering unit with an electric one. This was perfectly ok for you and me but for the purists, it was the worst thing possible. It felt less 911 like.

With the new one, unfortunately, things have gotten worse. And by worse, I mean less 911 like. It will still be a great car to drive but not to the satisfaction of a 911 fan.

Finally, ill end the suspense and come to the major change. For the first time in its more than half a century history, the complete 911 line-up is going turbocharged.

Lamborghini Aventador 50th Anniversario Catches Fire In Dubai: Video

Yet another Lamborghini catches fire and is completely destroyed. The latest incident happened yesterday in Dubai. And the car in question is a limited edition Lamborghini Aventador LP 720-4 50 Anniversario.

The incident happened yesterday at the Dubai Marina and soon pictures and videos started popping up online. Fire fighters could not stop the blaze on time. The car suddenly caught fire just like the Gallardo which caught fire in Delhi recently.

The supercar was launched by Lamborghini in 2013 to celebrates its 50th anniversary. It has been limited to only 200 cars. 100 of them are coupes while the rest are roadsters. Sadly there is 1 less now.

The roadster is powered by a 6.5 litre naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 720 hp and 690 Nm of torque. The power generated is 20 more than the standard Aventador. The engine is mated to a 7-speed gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels. The car accelerates from a stand still to a 100 kmph in 2.9 seconds and it goes on to a top speed of 350 kmph.

The exterior of the car gets small cosmetic changes to differentiate it from the regular car and it also gets a new unique custom paint job. The changes on the inside include a semi-aniline leather upholstery.

The car costs USD $548000. Lamborghini should investigate why the car caught fire and rectify the problem if it is found in other 50th anniversary edition cars.

A Mitsubishi Evo Helps This Guy Beat His Cancer: Video

It is not every day you come across such inspirational stories but when you do, it is worth mentioning.

We all know that cancer is one of the most feared and deadliest diseases. This video shows the story of a man named Jon Livermore who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Many people have died due to the disease.

During times like these, people usually prefer to do what they have always loved to do and keeps them happy and occupied. This helps them relax their minds and help them fight the disease better. That’s exactly what Jon did.

Jon, with the help of his friends and family, worked on his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX project car. He worked tirelessly even after his chemotherapy sessions. The car features carbon fibre parts and it produces 702 bhp and 800 Nm of torque.

His favourite car, sometime back, would have been the Lamborghini Countach. But after living in Asia for a while, it turned to be the Lancer Evolution. The Evo is a favourite among tuners and many cars have been modified. The car was launched in 1992 and after 10 generations, it will be discontinued at the end of this year.

FIA Will Carry Out Closed Cockpit Tests

FIA Will Carry Out Closed Cockpit Tests

Following the death of Jules Bianchi and Justin Wilson, the debate over closed cockpits has again resurfaced. Bianchi died after suffering head injuries after a crash at last year Suzuka Grand Prix while Wilson died after suffering head injuries from flying debris at last weekend’s IndyCar race at Pocono.

FIA had first considered closed cockpits after the death of F1 legend Ayrton Senna. Work began in 2009 after a loose wheel hit and killed Henry Surtees. A week later, Felipe Massa suffered head injuries after he was hit by a spring at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Closed cockpit tests were conducted but the pros were outweighed by the cons. Initial fighter-jet style canopies would send debris high into the air but the major drawback found from those tests was the delay in the driver getting out of the car in the event of an accident or medical crews attending to the driver. They would have to remove the canopy first.

FIA is now looking to design cockpits the would deflect debris and at the same time, will not hinder the driver from exiting the car. This has led to a new blade concept. It uses a series of vertical blades of different heights.

Closed cockpit test will be carried out next month after F1 technical chiefs discussed it with the FIA and pressed for the same. Closed cockpits would greatly help open-wheel racing cars like F1 and Indy cars.

More Jaguar SUVs Coming

More Jaguar SUVs Coming

It has been confirmed that Jaguar is developing a few new SUVs to be sold along with the F-Pace SUV. All the SUVs are expected to be smaller than the F-Pace. The smallest SUV might be a rival to the Audi Q1 and the Mini Countryman.

Sporty intentions from the British auto maker means that it is unlikely that Jaguar will launch a larger seven seater SUV. But that does mean that we will see coupe version of the SUVs to rival the BMW X2, X4 and X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and GLC Coupe. Audi also plans to release the Q6 and Q8 coupe version of their SUVs.

Jaguar will also build a sportier R and SVR versions of their SUVs to rival the M and AMG vehicles and they will be sold as technical flagship models. All the SUVs will be dynamically capable to offer performance oriented driving. Jaguar design director, Ian Callum, has also confirmed that an electric SUV is also on on its way to join the Jaguar line-up. This news is strengthened by the fact that the company has applied to trademark the name ‘EV-Type’.

Jaguar will move production of a few models to the Magna Steyr factory in Graz, Austria. This is being done to free up space at its UK facility in Solihull in the West Midlands.

The Jaguar F-Pace will be launched early next year.

Pirelli Tyre Blowouts Leaves the F1 Paddock Worried

Pirelli Tyre Blowouts Leaves the F1 Paddock Worried

During the course of last weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix, Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg and Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel suffered tyre blowouts. Nico suffered a tyre blowout during the second practice session while Vettel lost his rear right tyre during the penultimate lap of the race. He was in third place when it happened and it resulted in him losing a podium place.

The race was held at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps race track in Belgium. It is one of the favourite tracks loved by most drivers and fans thanks to high fast flowing corners.

Pirelli however suggested that Ferrari were to blame because Vettel’s tyres had done 28 laps when the blowout occured. There is no explanation as of now as to why Rosberg’s rear tyre failed.

While Rosberg has his incident when he was driving at 320 kmph, Vettel was driving at 300 kmph and had just come out of Formula 1’s most challenging and technical corners, Eau Rouge. If it had happened 200 metres before, the outcome would have been different. Rosberg also managed to control his car and not crash and that, he says, is why there is no explanation for what happened.

The drivers have called for an improvement in tyres after an investigation before the next race. The next race will be the Italian Grand Prix held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit on September 6th.

In 2013, Pirelli had requested to limit the maximum number of laps a driver can run with a set of tyre. The proposal put forward limited the maximum distances as 50 percent of the grand prix distance for the prime tyre and 30 percent for the option tyre.

This was rejected by the teams. If it had been applied, Vettel’s tyres would have been limited to 22 runs. So Pirelli feel that the Italian team did not manage their tyres properly.

800 hp Electric Rapide Coming

800 hp Electric Rapide Coming

Rumours of Aston Martin producing an all-electric Rapide emerged a few months back. Now, at the recently held Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the British manufacturer’s CEO Andy Palmer revealed that the car was indeed under development.

Aston Martin wants the power output to be very high and they are prioritizing performance. So the car will have 800 hp but still have a range of 200 miles (322 kilometres). The manufacturer wants the car to be capable of being driven a few laps around a race track or even a lap around the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife. The car will rival the Tesla Model S.

The electric sedan will be sold along with the V12 powered Rapide. The company says that to continue selling the V12 cars, they will have to sell electric cars as well. This is because a manufacturer should maintain average fuel efficiency across the range of vehicles it sells. And that average efficiency is going up due to rising environment concerns.

The current Rapide S luxury sedan is powered by a 6.0 litre AM29 V12 producing 552 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. It is mated to a Touchtronic III 8-speed automatic gearbox. The car accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds and it goes on to a top speed of 327 kmph.

The electric Aston Martin Rapide will be launched in 2017. The DBX crossover concept that was shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show is also being developed in EV, plug-in hybrid and internal combustion versions.

Maryland's Batman Killed After His Car Breaks Down

Maryland’s Batman Killed After His Car Breaks Down

This is very sad news. 51 year old American Lenny. B. Robinson who is also known as the Route 29 Batman has died after he was involved in a car collision late on Sunday night near Hagerstown, Maryland.

Robinson used to drive around in his black custom Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with a Batman costume always in the trunk. It took him 45 minutes to wear the costume and make up. He used to visit sick children in hospitals wearing that Batman costume. All he wanted to do was to bring a smile on their faces. He even used to give the children gifts.

On Sunday night, as usual, he pulled up at a local gas station and treated kids present there at that time. He then drove off. Soon, his supercar faced engine problems and he was forced to pull over on an unlit stretch of Interstate 70 and he got out of the car. He parked on the median and people behind him stopped and switched on their emergency lights.

Even though he had parked on the median, a small part of the car still protruded into the fast lane. The car was then struck by a Toyota Camry. The Camry pushed the Gallardo into Robinson, who died on the scene. The Toyota Camry driver was unhurt in the incident. Police are still investigating the accident and as of now, no charges have been filed yet.

History Of Formula 1 engines

History Of Formula 1 engines

Ever since motor racing started, organisers have always tried to clamp down on the engines used to keep the competition even. The prestigious Formula 1 is no exception. Ever since it’s inception in 1947, a set of regulations or Formula was kept for the engine as well.

Formula 1 engines have been subject to continuous changes to increase safety and efficiency. It also puts a cap on the maximum horsepower to keep the championship a level playing field.

Usually, a Formula 1 engine has a short stroke. This is done to prevent a failure when the engine is revving at extremely high speeds. To make up for the short stroke the engines have a larger bore. Bore is the diameter of the cylinder whereas the stroke is the length the piston travels inside the cylinder. It is the distance between the top dead centre (TDC) and the bottom dead centre (BDC).

Ever since Formula 1 started, the various engine regulations set included number of strokes, number of cylinder, use of a turbocharger or a super charger, revolution limit and the fuel used.

Overtaking Failure: Video

Overtaking Failure: Video

As we all know, overtaking on a two lane highway can be dangerous and that the problem is aggravated when overtaking a truck as we cannot see the oncoming vehicle. The accident rate due to this reason is high and we regularly see videos and hear about such incidents from around the world. This dashboard camera video clearly shows the perils involved.

The driver of this sedan cannot see the oncoming vehicles and passes very close to them. Then when he finally attempts to overtake the truck, he collides head on with another oncoming truck. The vehicle following the car which seems to be another truck rams into the car completely decimating it. The driver could have easily driven faster and overtaken the truck without causing an accident. Luckily, no serious injuries were reported in the incident.

These types of accidents are exactly what Samsung is trying to avoid with their safety trucks. The trucks have video cameras at the front. The images captured by these cameras are then projected at the rear. The driver of the car behind the truck can see the oncoming vehicles and can overtake when it is safe. We hope that these safety trucks are soon put into production by all truck manufacturers to make the roads a safer place to drive.

German Big 3 Buy Nokia's Mapping Service

German Big 3 Buy Nokia’s Mapping Service

The German big 3 luxury auto makers, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have agreed with Nokia to buy its mapping and location services HERE. All three manufacturers will have an equal share in the acquisition. None of them seek a majority stake. The company will continue to remain independent with their product being offered across other industries and to other auto makers as well. It will be open to all customers. HERE currently offers its mapping and location services in nearly 200 countries in over 50 different languages.

The main advantage for the automotive industry would be a development towards autonomous driving and new assistance systems. High definition cameras and sensors on cars can update the data on the mapping system with real-time vehicle data. This will be available to all automobile manufacturers and they can offer their customers brand-specific services.

Future development could help recognise dangerous road conditions and road contours which can warn drivers and activate assistance systems and reduces the risk of accidents. In a green zone, the car can automatically shift to an efficient driving style. Current systems are able to recognise road signs like speed limits and warn drivers and offer assistance during critical situations.

The high amount of data collected can be tailored to the driver’s individual requirements. The next level autonomous systems would require high precision maps with updated date on the vehicle surroundings exact to the nearest centimetre. This is required in order to react in real time. HERE already produces extremely precise static maps.

The latest Mahindra compact SUV, the TUV 300, has been designed with the help of Pininfarina. The partnership would help in the design of future Mahindra vehicles.

Earlier this year we heard that Mahindra were looking to buy the Italian car design firm. A little over a month back, that plan fell through after the banks rejected Mahindra’s offer to pay half of Pininfarina’s $97 million worth of debt.

It has now been confirmed that the talks between Mahindra and Pininfarina are set to resume next month. This comes after the Italian company’s net debt increased from 44.8 million euros in December 2014 to 52.7 million euros. During the first half of the year, the company posted a loss of 4.4 million euros. It has also been understood that Mahindra would like to invest the lowest possible price in the design firm.

Audi Sport Boss Asks His Driver To Ram Other Cars Off The Track

During the last DTM race held at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, Audi motorsports chief gave an instruction over radio to his driver asking him to push the Mercedes-Benz cars out.

Seconds after the message, which read “schieb ihn raus”, Audi driver Timo Scheider hit Robert Wickens’s Mercedes which in turn took out Pascal Wehrlein’s car. The nudge took out both Mercedes-Benz cars and they ended up on the gravel. The incident happened on the last lap of the race. At that time, Pascal Wehrlein was leading the championship.

Initially, Audi boss Dr Wolfgang Ullrich denied giving out the message. In fact, he even claimed that he did not know who said it. But later he admitted to shouting out the message and apologised to Mercedes. He insisted that he usually does not communicate with the drivers and did not know that the radio was open.

Timo Scheider was later stripped off his sixth place finish after an investigation be the stewards determined that he had deliberately hit the Mercedes. Even though no other action was taken over against Audi, they are not out of trouble yet. After Timo’s disqualification, the race stewards decided to forward the incident to the appeal court of the DMSB. DMSB is Germany’s FIA recognised national sporting authority. They cited possible unsporting instruction via radio. Additional punishment could be handed out to Audi for the controversial incident.

Watch How A Train Wrecks A Limo Stranded On Track: Video

Watch How A Train Wrecks A Limo Stranded On Track: Video

Train accidents at level crossings are common. Usually, the crossings are unmanned and people attempt to cross before the train arrives. They sometimes cannot make it and it leads to a big tragedy. Hundreds of people are killed across the world every year due to train collisions at level crossings.

On July 18th 2015, in New Paris, Indiana, a Chrysler 300 limo got stuck on the tracks and found itself in the path of a cargo train. The train driver could not stop in time and rammed into the limo dragging the car along with it. You can hear the brakes of the train screeching. Luckily, the driver and passengers of the limo made it out in time and no one was injured in the accident.

What is surprising is that the limo did not split into two as everyone would have expected. That should be because of its exceptionally strong mid structure. Hats off to those who designed the car.

With increasing number of accidents at level crossings, I hope that this video will help increase awareness. Drive safe and never attempt to cross in front of an oncoming train. Always be careful while crossing an unmanned railway crossing.

Stopping a very successful car that bought in the cash for the automobile manufacturer and replacing it with a brand new MPV. But the Innova proved that its launch was no mistake and went on to become the best selling MPV in the country. It has held that title for 10 years now.

How Does A Differential Work: Video

How Does A Differential Work: Video

A differential is a key part of the car that allows you to take corners at higher speeds. Introduced sometime around 1937, this is one of the most important technologies ever to go in a car. Nowadays, car manufacturers are introducing new kinds of differential like electronic differential to exploit the performance of the car. The differential is also a key part of off road vehicles where it is used to get the best traction available.

A differential is used to help the car turn easily. With its help, the inside wheels rotate slower than the outside wheels. This simple trick improves the handling and safety of a car tremendously.

I am pretty sure that most of you do not know how a differential works. How this component works is usually very difficult to explain considering the complexities involved in the mechanism. However, this film shot in 1937 explains exactly how it works and is very easy to understand. It starts with the basics and explains using sticks for representation.

The Around The Corner video was shot by Henry Jamison Handy and was commissioned by Chevrolet Motor Division and General Motors Sales Corporation. Enjoy this superb old video.
