2012 Hyundai i20 1.2
Until recently, a new model from Hyundai didn’t give manufacturers sleepless nights. Things though have changed dramatically since then and in India and internationally Hyundai has come into its own as an automobile manufacturer. It has been bringing out increasingly competent offerings and no longer sits in the basement position in the market. The i20 was one such car that propelled Hyundai into the limelight. Hyundai at first didn’t have big plans for the i20 when it launched the hatch in India. India was only going to be the manufacturing hub to export the i20. The response to the i20 in India however changed things dramatically and the manufacturer has now launched the facelift version of the i20. The supermini retains Hyundai’s tried and tested virtues of a modern design, frugal engines, a generous standard kit and safety. Prices for the i20 start from Rs4,73,400 to Rs7,67,405 for the petrol variants and Rs5,96,334 to Rs7,44,012 for the diesel variant ex-showroom New Delhi. Full story 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
Hyundai has taken the wraps off the latest Santa Fe at the on-going New York Auto Show. The SUV would in all probability make it into India in 2013. Reports have suggested that Hyundai might consider assembling the Santa Fe at their factory in Chennai which would mean that the prices could come down. If the SUV is brought in as a CBU like how it is now, prices would be not less than 22lakhs. Full story Car sales increase drastically ahead of excise tax hikes
Car sales in March witnessed a big rise ahead of expected price hikes after the Budget. Car buyers in India rushed to dealerships before excise tax hikes announced in the budget began to impact prices. The government however in the budget did not slap a tax on diesel vehicles. Hyundai Motor India’s sales in went up by 22.9 percent to 39122 compared to 31822 units in same month last year. “We could meet our expectations in March as there was considerable interest to beat the expected price hike in the Union Budget. The market continues to pose many challenges and things can improve if interest rates come down this quarter,” Hyundai Motor India Director Arvind Saxena said. Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) reported a three-fold jump in its sales for March. The manufacturer sold 11016 units compared to 3576 units it sold in the same month last year. HSCI Senior Vice-President Jnaneswar Sen commenting on the increase in sales said, "Our sales performance in the month of March has been very impressive and is a testimony to our customer’s trust and confidence in our product and services." "Owing to the Tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand, Honda Siel Cars India was going through production cut at its Greater Noida plant during the year 2011, he added". Honda has launched the Brio hatchback and the new City last year and these two cars along with the Jazz have driven the increase in Honda sales. Full story Hyundai launches new i20 from Rs 4.73lakhs
